Heatwave Zinc During the Day? Here's the Solution!

Corrugated zinc roofs are widely used because they are lightweight, durable, and easy to install. However, one of its drawbacks is that it absorbs heat quickly, so the temperature inside the room can become very high, especially during the day. If you experience this problem, here are some solutions to reduce the heat on corrugated zinc roofs.

1. Use Roof Paint with Reflective Technology

One of the most effective ways to reduce heat on corrugated zinc is to use reflective paint or heat-insulating paint. This paint has the ability to reflect sunlight so that the roof does not absorb too much heat.

Solution:

  • Choose a special roof paint with reflective materials that can reduce the temperature by several degrees.
  • Use bright colors such as white or silver, because dark colors absorb more heat.

2. Install an Insulation Layer Under the Roof

The insulation layer helps inhibit the transfer of heat from the zinc into the room. There are various types of insulation that can be used, such as aluminum foil, glasswool, or bubble foil.

Solution:

  • Use aluminum foil as a reflective layer under the zinc to reduce incoming heat.
  • Use glasswool to absorb heat and keep the room temperature comfortable.

3. Create Good Ventilation

Poor air circulation traps heat inside the house, causing the temperature to rise. Adequate ventilation helps hot air escape and fresh air enters.

Solution:

  • Install ventilation at the top of the wall or roof to remove hot air.
  • Use a roof ventilator or turbine ventilator to increase air circulation without electricity.

4. Use a Higher Roof Frame

The closer the roof is to the room, the faster the heat spreads inside. By raising the roof frame, hot air will have more room to flow out before reaching the room.

Solution:

  • Use a higher roof design to increase natural ventilation.
  • Add a ceiling so that heat does not spread directly into the room.

5. Use Additional Roof Materials

To reduce the effects of heat to the maximum, corrugated iron can be combined with other roof materials that are more resistant to heat, such as insulated spandek roofs or sand-coated metal tiles.

Solution:

  • Use a PU foam-coated spandek roof that has better insulation.
  • Combine zinc with transparent fiber roof in some parts so that natural light enters without increasing the room temperature.

Corrugated zinc does tend to be hot during the day, but with solutions such as the use of reflective paint, insulation layers, good ventilation, high roof frames, and a combination of other roof materials, the indoor temperature can be more comfortable.
